A new addition

Meet miss Emily Emma Kroening. (The boys couldn't agree on one name.) She is a Cavapoo. We actually got her about 3 weeks ago, but I keep forgetting to post about it. So far she is a GREAT dog, and has been SUPER easy to house train. The kids love her. =)

Report cards-

The good new is both of the boys are doing great. Here, they get O's (outstanding), S's (satisfactory), or N's (needs improvement.) Connor got almost all O's! Brennen got S's and S+'s but he got a 100% on his math assessment and is ahead of grade level for reading. I am SO impressed with his reading.
The bad (sad) news is that Connor's teacher said he is having trouble making friends and he ends up playing alone a lot of the time. =( I was actually kind of shocked to hear this because he's such a friendly, social guy. Not sure what I'm supposed to do?

Trick or Treat...

The kids had a great time last night. Connor was Wolverine from X-Men, Brennen was a dinosaur, and Makenna was a puppy (she has a major love of dogs.) First we went to cub scouts. Brennen won the prize for "most monstrous." After that we came home and went trick or treating. Makenna decided she was done after 2 blocks so the two of us went home and handed out candy.

You can see more pictures here.

County fair-

We decided to take the kids to the fair today since it was the last day they would be here. It cost $15 EACH for us to get in, but luckily all rides were included, so they got to ride them all (except the really scary ones.) They had a BLAST! We didn't play any games but I did take a lot of pictures of them on the rides.

You can see more pictures here.

Best investment...

I think the trampoline is the best toy ever. It definitely gets more use than any other toy. This is actually our second trampoline. The first one blew over and was ruined! =( The kids love love love it! You can see more pictures here.

Brennen lost his first tooth

Our little Brennen lost his first tooth last week. And then he lost his lost tooth! Somehow the tooth fairy knew, and left him $5 anyway.

Serano Peppers

(also basil and oregano)

Tropicana Rose

So pretty!

Hibiscus

Our first Hibiscus. I love it! They are so much bigger than I thought they would be.

Honeydew

The garden has pretty much gone to hell in a handbasket. Someone told me that in NC it would burn up in July, and I didn't believe her. =S

They Honeydew is doing great so far.

6/17/08

Honeydew

About 20 days old. They seems to be doing well.

Serano Peppers

Moving right along!

Tomatoes

A very "fruitful" cherry tomato plant!
I've been eating lots of tomatoes! My favorite is 'better boy', but unfortunately it's a really wimpy plant.

Bell Peppers

We've yet to eat one. It doesn't help that my 3 year old picked 3 of them tonight! (along with 5 tomatoes, all un-ripe.) They look like they are starting to do better now though. =D

Zucchini

It has been going very well and it tastes great!

6/3/08

Zucchini

Holy cow they grow fast! I posted a picture of that little one about 2 weeks ago, and we have already eaten 2 full grown zucchini!

Seranos FINALLY

These guys are WAAAAAAAAAAAY behind schedule. Better late than never I guess. =D

Honeydew!

(Click picture to enlarge.)
Last week we had some honeydew melon with dinner and I decided to save the seeds so the boys and I could plant them. Well they sprouted today! I wonder if they will work out this late.

Tomatoes

We've eaten several cherry tomatoes so far. I'm just dying to get my hands on that first big one! There are 6 plants in total, but they wouldn't all fit in the shot.

Corn

Whoever said "knee high by the 4th of July" didn't live in North Carolina. The short ones are taller than knee high already.

Yes, I know we need to pull weeds. Crab grass is a biotch.

Greenbeans

Lots of them! Yum!!!

Bell peppers

Not very "fruitful" so far. This is supposed to be a green pepper. Do they go from green to red back to green?

Strawberries

Look at them running all over the place!

Cilantro

Movin' right along.

5/20/08

zucchini!

55 days old and there are lots of little zucchini's growing. These plants all look so different but all 3 have flowers.

The big one on the left, and the one in the middle were started from seed (on the same day!), the one on the right I bought a few weeks ago.

(click pictures to enlarge)

Strawberries

Man, strawberries love my dirt! They are growing so well.

These are 3 of the plants that I planted a while ago. As you can see, the one on the right has a bunch of runners that are turning into more plants.

I planted 12 more plants 2 weeks ago. They were dormant and bare root and they already have flowers!

Tomatoes

We've harvested several cherry tomatoes already.
The 1st one is a cherry tomato plant that I started from seed (with a better boy in the background). The 2nd is a beefmaster. The 3rd picture is a cherry tomato plant (with corn in the background).

Greenbeans

55 days old. You can see some carrot sprouts on the right side of the first picture. Somehow those ended up all over. =)

Herbs

I don't know what's up with my serano peppers. They should've been ready to harvest by now but it hasn't even flowered.

In this pot I have Serano peppers, basil, chives, and scattered around oregano (thanks to a 2 year old that like to play in dirt). The picture on the right is mainly basil.

5/10/08

Our first ripe tomato

And it sure was yummy! May 9th for a first tomato. Not too shabby eh???
The other cherry tomato plant is about to have some ready too.
The beefmaster tomatoes look like they are going to be huge.

5/7/08

Tomatoes

All 6 plants have tomatoes now. =D
I can't believe how fast the big tomato plants are growing!
One of my littles guys is about to be ready, and the other one has tons of tomatoes.

Sugar Snap Peas

I thought it had gotten too hot for these and then all of a sudden they flowered!

Bell Pepper

This pepper gets bigger by the hour!

Zucchinni

Nothing exciting at all.
The one with the big leaves I started from seed.
The other one I bought as a plant.

Herbs and Serano

Chives are on the left, basil is in the front, and the serano plant is in the back right. It still hasn't flowered. =S

Our first harvest!

Yep, a lonely radish. The boys and I couldn't resist! I even cut it 3 ways so we could share it. =D

LOTS of tomatoes

This is so much fun!!!
